GenieLabs ("we", "our", or "us") develops privacy-first productivity tools. This Privacy Policy explains how Job Genie collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our Chrome extension.

2. Information We Collect

Job Genie collects only the information necessary to provide its functionality.

Resume Information

Resume text uploaded or pasted by the user is stored locally within the user's browser using Chrome storage.

Job Information

The extension may collect job-related information from supported job portals, including:

  • Job title
  • Company name
  • Job description
  • Job posting URL
  • Application status and notes

This information is stored in the user's Google Sheet when the user chooses to save a job.

Google Account Information

When users authenticate with Google, we may access:

  • Email address
  • Basic profile information required for authentication

We never collect or store Google account passwords or credentials.

Bug Reports

If a user submits a bug report through the extension, the extension may send:

  • User-provided bug description
  • Extension version information
  • Current page URL (when relevant for troubleshooting)

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to provide Job Genie's functionality, including:

  • Resume-job matching and analysis
  • Job application tracking
  • Google Sheets integration
  • User authentication
  • Customer support and bug resolution

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with advertisers or third parties.

We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.

We do not use Google user data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

4. Google API Services and User Data

Job Genie uses Google APIs only for features explicitly initiated by the user.

Google Sheets Access

Google Sheets permissions are used solely to create, update, and manage the user's job tracking spreadsheet.

Gmail Access

Job Genie requests Gmail sending permission solely for the "Report a Bug" feature. When a user clicks "Send Report," the extension sends a single support email from the user's Gmail account to support.genielabs@gmail.com.

Job Genie does not:

  • Read emails
  • Access inbox contents
  • Access sent messages
  • Modify emails
  • Delete emails
  • Download attachments
  • Access contacts
  • Monitor email activity

The Gmail permission is used only after an explicit user action.

Job Genie's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Data Storage and Protection

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information. These measures include:

  • Secure Google OAuth authentication
  • HTTPS encryption for data transmission
  • Restricted access controls
  • Local browser storage whenever possible

Most user-generated data remains within the user's browser or their own Google Sheet.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Job Genie stores most data locally in the user's browser or within the user's own Google Sheet. Users may delete their data at any time by:

  • Deleting the generated Google Sheet
  • Clearing extension storage
  • Uninstalling the extension

Users may also request deletion of any account-related information by contacting support.genielabs@gmail.com.

We do not maintain permanent server-side copies of resumes, job tracking data, or Gmail content.

7. Children's Privacy

Job Genie is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The updated version will always be posted with a revised "Last Updated" date.
